Rapid City Rush News Release

(Rapid City, SD) - One game after taking down the top team in the league, the Rapid City Rush kept their hot streak going with a 6-3 triumph over the first-place Evansville IceMen on Friday night. The Rush received goals from six different skaters to pick up their third-straight win and fifth over their last six tilts. The Rush not only pulled further away from the Quad City mallards, but now have their sights set on the top of the Turner Conference, moving to within four points of Evansville. The Rush and IceMen clash again tomorrow night and tickets are available by calling 716-7825 or online at www.gotmine.com .

Tim Boron saw plenty of action in the first period as the IceMen outshot the Rush 19-8, but the goaltender was up to the task, tying a season-high with eighteen saves. Evansville did take a 1-0 lead on a penalty shot goal by John Ronan that was awarded after a Rush defenseman closed his hand on the puck in the crease area.

The second period was equally as close until the midway point, where the Rush offense awakened, pouring in four goal in a seven-minute span. Rookies Jordan Behler and Anthony Perdicaro combined for a beautiful give-and-go that resulted in Behler's third professional goal and a 1-1 tie. Less than one minute later, crisp passing between Collin Circelli and Jeff Kyrzakos set up Jesse Schultz for his 22nd of the season and Rapid City's first lead of the game. The Rush doubled it four minutes later on Anthony Perdicaro's 8th goal of the year, sniping a shot to the short-side on a 3-on-1 chance. Les Reaney kept the route on, backhanding a shot through the five-hole of IceMen goaltender Pier-Olivier Pelletier to give Rapid City a 4-1 lead with less than two minutes left. However, Evansville bounced right back when Luke Stauffacher buried his first in an IceMen uniform, making it a 4-2 game heading into the third period.

The Rush kept the offensive pressure up, burying a pair of goals to begin the third period. The first came at 3:01 on a Shawn Limpright goal that was set up by Les Reaney while Scott Wray's powerplay goal six minutes later gave the Rush a 6-2 advantage. Luke Stauffacher would add his second of the game with seven minutes left, but the Rush would hold on for the 6-3 win.
