(Rapid City, SD) - On Tuesday night, the Rush made their way to Tulsa, Oklahoma for their first road contest of the 2009-10 season. Plagued by the lack of shots, the Rush came up short against the Oilers by a score of 5-4.

The opening period was controlled by the home team as the Oilers fired a total of 10 shots in on Rush goaltender Danny Battochio while the Rush mustered only 2 shots, an all-time low for a period. Then at the 4:07 mark of the first, The Oilers struck gold as Michel Beausoleil netted the games first goal, assisted by TJ Craig and Rob Hisey. The Oilers doubled the lead at the 13:04 mark as Craig collected his second point of the game with a goal and Hisey getting his second with the assist on the play. Craig's goal was the first powerplay goal of the season for the Tulsa Oilers who came into the game with 16 unsuccessful man-advantage opportunities.

After a 2-0 opening period, the two teams would explode for seven combined goals in the second. Getting the scoring underway was Tulsa's Dan Riedel who netted another powerplay goal at 6:21 to make it a 3-0 game. Just 11 seconds later, Brendan Cook answered right back for Rapid City as he was set up in the slot by former Oiler Brendon Hodge and Colt King. Just over two minutes later, Les Reaney kept his hot streak as he connected for his fourth goal in three games to make it a one-goal game. Beausoleil would then net a shorthanded goal for his second of the game to extend the lead once again as Hisey collected his fourth assist. After that goal, Miguel Beaudry stepped in to replace Battochio in between the pipes. At 12:19, the Rush would get a milestone goal from Colt King who scored his 100th career goal to pull the Rush to within one. Continuing the back and forth trend, Rob Hisey collected his fifth point and first goal of the game on a between-the-legs shot the found the top shelf on Beaudry. King then made it a one-goal game with his 2nd of the contest and 101st of his career with Cook and Hodge on the assists. The middle frame was nearly even in terms of shots as Tulsa had the slight edge 12 to 11.

The third period was similar to the first with the Rush being outshot, 9-4. Neither team found the back of the net and the contest would end 5-4, Tulsa on top.
