Akron RubberDucks News Release

Erie's Josh Turley pitched six innings for his 11th win, and Harold Castro had two hits and two RBI, as the SeaWolves slipped by the Akron RubberDucks, 3-2, Friday night at Canal Park.

Turning Point

Casto, Erie's 21-year-old second baseman, drilled a two-run double off Akron starter D.J. Brown (0-2) in the fourth inning, giving Erie a 3-2 lead.

Mound Presence

Once the SeaWolves had the lead, Turley (11-7) and the bullpen did the rest. Turley, making his fourth start of the year against Akron, worked six innings and scattered five hits. He allowed two runs in the third inning to fall behind, 2-1, but finished with three scoreless innings. Righthander Confessor Lara fired two shutout innings after Turley, and Paul Voelker pitched the ninth for his sixth save. Turley improved to 2-1 against the RubberDucks. On the Akron side, Brown threw well in his Canal Park debut. Despite giving up 10 hits over seven innings, Brown allowed only three runs, walked one and struck out four.

Duck Tales

Bryson Myles drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the third inning, and Yandy Diaz followed with an RBI single to give the RubberDucks (66-59) a 2-1 lead. Myles also doubled and walked. Bradley Zimmer had a lead-off hit in the ninth, but was caught stealing on a strong throw by Erie catcher Drew Longley. Zimmer was 2-4 on the night. Right-hander Josh Martin provided two innings of scoreless relief, fanning five batters in the process.
