Royals Win Game Five In Cincy, 1-0

Cincinnati, OH - The Reading Royals of the ECHL won Game Five of the North Division Finals best of seven series with the Cincinnati Cyclones 1-0 at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. Reading leads the series three games to two with Game Six set for Saturday night (7:05 pm) at the Sovereign Center in Reading. Brock Hooton scored what proved to be his fourth game winning goal of the playoff season, when he bagged the lone goal of the game with 4:12 remaining in regulation. Danny Taylor (7-4; 43/43) picked up the team's first shutout of the playoff season; while Cedrick Desjardins (2-2; 24/25) sustained the hard luck loss.

The only goal of the game came at the 15:48 mark of the third period on the Royals' fifth power play opportunity of the night. Shawn Collymore fed Patrik Hersley at the left point. Hersley slipped a pass to Hooton in the right circle. Hooton settled, fired and beat Desjardins high to the glove side for his sixth goal of the playoff season. Cincinnati created a number of scoring chances throughout the game and pressed hard down the stretch, but Taylor and the Royals held fast to pick up the win.

The Royals face the Cyclones in Game Six of the North Division Finals on Saturday, May 3 (7:05 pm) at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania. The game night broadcast on Saturday will begin at 6:35 pm with the pre-game warm-up show on True Oldies WRAW 1340 am as well as on the internet through the Royals' website, www.royalshockey.com. Streaming video is available on a pay per view basis through the B2 Networks.
