
Falcons Win Outstanding Business Volunteer Of The Year Award

Fresno, Calif. - John Tull and the Fresno Falcons organization received the Business Volunteer of the Year Award from the Volunteer Center of Fresno County at the National Volunteer Week's 40th Anniversary Awards Luncheon on Wednesday. During the 2007-2008 season, the Falcons helped to raise $236,490 through cash donations, tickets, memorabilia, and other items for charity.
"We are proud to honor John Tull and The Fresno Falcons with Business Volunteer of the Year for the awesome and innovative contribution to so many of our community's important non-profits," Executive Director of the Volunteer Center of Fresno County Cathy Caples said. "They have supported the health and future of our community with all of their endeavors."
The Falcons major fundraisers of the year included Rotary at the Rink, Relay at the Rink, Pink at the Rink II, Kids Day at the Rink, and Girl Scouts at the Rink jersey auctions. During the 2007-2008 season, the Falcons donated to more than 200 organizations throughout the Central Valley. In March, Falcons players, coaches, and front office staff members shaved their heads to benefit the St. Baldrick's Foundation for pediatric cancer. Players shaved their heads in honor of the kids in the Falcons HRH Insurance Face-Off Against Kids Cancer Program.
The Falcons also helped collect more than 3,000 Teddy Bears for Toys for Tots and 200 chew toys for animals from for the Valley Animal Center.
"The Fresno Falcons are a proud supporter of the Fresno Community," Falcons CEO John Tull said. "The Falcons' mission is to give back to the community as much as possible. The Falcons will be participating in the Walk to Cure Diabetes on June 14, Step Out to Cure Diabetes Walk, and Leukemia and Lymphoma's Society's Light the Night Walk this fall."
The Falcons return downtown to Selland Arena for the 2008-09 season. The home opener is Friday, October 24 against the Bakersfield Condors at 7:30 p.m. Season Ticket packages are now available by calling the Falcons at (559) 485-7825.
