April 15, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team will face the Florida Everblades in the ECHL's Eastern Conference Semi-Final best-of-seven playoff series starting Friday, April 19, 2013 (7:05 pm) at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania.
The second round series will pit the first seeded Royals against the fourth seeded Everblades. As with Game One, Game Two (Saturday, April 20 @ 7:05 pm) of the series will also be played at the Sovereign Center. Games Three (Wednesday, April 24 @ 7:30 pm), Four (Friday, April 26 @ 7:30 pm) and Five, if necessary, (Saturday, April 27 @ 7:00 pm) will be played at Germain Arena in Estero, Florida. The series will return to the Sovereign Center for Games Six (if necessary) and Seven (if necessary) on Tuesday, April 30 (7:05 pm) and Wednesday, May 1 (7:05 pm). The full schedule of the series is set out below.
The Royals and Everblades, who are the reigning Kelly Cup Champions, met twice in the regular season. Reading defeated the Florida, 4-2, at Sovereign Center on December 5, 2012; and the Royals won at Germain Arena by an identical score on February 27, 2013. This marks the third time in the teams' respective histories that Reading and Florida have faced-off in a playoff matchup. The Everblades defeated the Royals in the best-of-five 2004 National Conference Finals, three games to two. In 2010, the two teams met in what was then known as the American Conference Semi-Finals. The Royals won that best-of-seven series, four games to none.
