Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA- The Reading Royals of the, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, won Game One of the best-of-seven Eastern Conference Quarterfinal matchup with the Greenville Road Warriors, 1-0, at Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Goaltender Riley Gill made all seventeen stops he was called upon to make to record a shutout in his first playoff game as a Royal. Yannick Tifu scored the only goal of the game 12:01 into the second period. Tifu, who was planted at the right side of the Road Warrior crease, was able to redirect a diagonal-down pass from Nikita Kahirsky over the right pad-and under the right arm-of Road Warrior goaltender Connor Knapp. The Royals power play was unable to connect in seven chances with the man advantage, including 1:48 of five-on-three mid-way into the third; but the penalty kill knocked off all three chances on the power play for Greenville.
