Greeneville, Tenn. - The Royals extended their winning streak to four games on Sunday with a 8-1 win over the Greeneville Reds.
In the top of the first, Jake Means roped his first career triple to plate Maikel Garcia and put Burlington in front 1-0. Vinnie Pasquantino and Logan Porter each followed up with RBI doubles to quickly boost that edge to 3-0.
Later, in the top of the fourth, David Hollie hit a deep fly to right field, earning the sacrifice as William Hancock came in from third to make it a 4-0 Burlington lead.
However, Greeneville quickly responded in the bottom of the fourth when Danielito Remy brought in AJ Bumpass on an infield single to cut the Reds deficit to 4-1.
In the top of the seventh, Pasquantino, who finished the night 5-for-5, torched his second triple of the game to plate Means and make it 5-1 Royals.
Burlington rubbed salt in the wound with three more runs in the top of the ninth. Porter smoked a two-run single and Hancock brought in another run on a fielder's choice to reach the 8-1 final score.
Royals right-hander Noah Murdock earned the win after tossing three innings of one-run relief while striking out four batters. Former Vanderbilt Commodore AJ Franklin was credited with the save after hurling the final three innings. Reds starter Tyler Garbee took the loss after allowing three earned runs in 3.2 innings.
Burlington faces Greeneville again on Monday in game two of a three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30.
