Memphis Redbirds News Release
Memphis, Tenn. - Omaha slipped by Memphis 3-2 to claim a split in the team's day-night doubleheader at AutoZone Park Saturday.
The Royals took advantage of Redbirds starter Tyler Norrick's lack of control in the first two innings. Omaha drew five walks in the first two frames and scored two runs to take an early lead. Damon Hollins knocked in the first run with a bases loaded walk and Ryan Shealy's sacrifice fly put the Royals up 2-0. Shealy later scored on a wild pitch in the fifth frame and finished the night 2-for-2. Cody Haerther drove in both Memphis runs going 1-for-4.
Norrick walked a Redbirds season-high six batters to go along with eight strikeouts over four innings in taking the loss. The lefty gave up two runs, one earned, on one hit in his Triple-A debut. Greg Atencio picked up the win in relief with 3.1 innings of work. Brad Salmon notched his third save of the season recording the final five outs.
The âBirds and Royals wrap up the first half of the Pacific Coast League season tomorrow with first pitch slated for 1:35 p.m. Mitchell Boggs gets the nod for the home team against Omaha's Carlos Rosa.
