
Royals Sign Goaltenderâ¦Playoff Broadcast Live on Internet

READING , PA â The Reading Royals, ECHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have signed goaltender Steve Belanger to a contract. The signing takes place after Colorado (NHL) contracted goaltender Tom Lawson had been recalled to the Colorado Avalanche on Monday.
All Royals playoff action can be found live on the Royals website at www.royalshockey.com courtesy of Sportsjuice. Due to contract commitments, ESPN radio, 1240AM will be airing Reading Phillies baseball. The Royals playoff action will be taped delayed and broadcast in it's entirety on ESPN and immediately follow coverage of Phillies baseball. The Performance Toyota pre-game show airs at 6:33 p.m. Eastern time.
Belanger, 20, comes to the Royals after a successful season with Moose Jaw of the Western Hockey League and the Vernon Vipers of the British Columbia Hockey League. The Anchorage , Alaska native posted a 22-11-0 recor d w ith a 2.84 goals against average and .904 save percentage with the Vipers. He recorded a 2-0-0 mark to begin the season with Moose Jaw , allowing just one goal against in two starts. Belanger was drafted in the seventh round, 210th overall, in the 2001 NHL entry Draft. Belanger will be in the line up tonight in the second-ever Royals playoff game against the Wheeling Nailers an d w ear sweater #31.
The Reading Royals meet the Wheeling Nailers for their second playoff game in club history tonight. The Royals first Kelly Cup home playoff game is scheduled for Saturday, April 10 at 7:05 p.m. A pre-game Playoff Pep Rally is set for 3:30 p.m. at Saturn of Reading with Y102, Slapshot and Royals players in attendance. There will be a Zamboni ride from Saturn of Reading to the Sovereign Center at 4:30 p.m. , followed by a tailgate party and live remote from Y102 at 5:00 p.m. outside of the Sovereign Center . Fans will be encouraged to âTake a Swing to Nail the Nailers.' For $1, fans can swing a sledgehammer at a Wheeling Nailers decorated vehicle with all proceeds going to Royals Charities. The Outside In Restaurant & Bar is sponsoring a "White Out Night" for the first-ever playoff game in the "Jungle." All fans are encouraged to wear a white T-shirt to the game.
