
Royals sign Big Western Hockey League defenseman

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals, affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have announced the signing of defenseman Stuart Kerr to a contract for the 2005-06 season.
A 6-foot-3, 200-pound defenseman, Kerr spent the last four seasons in the Western Hockey League with Spokane, Red Deer and Moose Jaw. He set a career mark in goals scored (4) in 2004-05, while also chipping in seven assists and compiled 158 penalty minutes in 68 games with Red Deer and Moose Jaw. During his major junior career, the Carberry, Manitoba native appeared in 257 games registered eight goals and 36 points with 695 penalty minutes. He also skated in 45 career post-season games and tallied three goals and six points with 67 penalty minutes.
The Royals 5th Anniversary Season faces off October 29 against Kelly Cup Champion Trenton. The Royals will raise the North Division regular season champion banner prior to the drop of the puck.
