
Royals Promote Bobby Witt Jr. and Nick Pratto to Triple-A Omaha

SPRINGDALE, Ark - The Kansas City Royals have announced this evening that prospects Bobby Witt Jr. and Nick Pratto have both been promoted to Triple-A Omaha from the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.
Witt Jr., 21, was the second overall selection in the 2019 draft by the Royals out of Colleyville Heritage High School in Texas. The shortstop entered today's doubleheader leading all Double-A players in total bases (134). He also came into today ranked first in the Double-A Central in RBI (49) and was tied for the Central lead in runs scored (44) while ranking second in the division in hits (69) and home runs (16). This season, Witt Jr. played in 60 games for Northwest Arkansas and hit .292 (17-for-243) with an OPS of .931. He started 43 games at shortstop and eight games at third base while posting a .977 fielding percentage (4 errors in 174 chances) and was a part of 21 double plays for the Naturals defense.
Pratto, 22, was the 14th overall pick in the 2017 draft by Kansas City out of Huntington Beach High School in California. The left-handed hitting first baseman entered today's games second among Double-A players in OPS (.994). He also ranked second in the Double-A Central in slugging percentage (.586) and third in on-base percentage (.408) while leading the Central in extra-base hits (32) and is tied for the league-lead in walks (44). On the year, Pratto played in 60 games for the Naturals and hit .273 (60-for-220) with 13 doubles, four triples, 15 home runs, and 43 RBI. Defensively, he was outstanding at first base as he only made one error in 515.1 innings at first base while recording 437 putouts.
Last Sunday, Witt Jr. (shortstop) and Pratto (first base) started for the American League in the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game as part of the All-Star Sunday festivities at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado.
