The Royals would counter with two power play goals by newcomer Scooter Smith to give Reading a 3-1 cushion. Joe Gerbe would cut the lead to 3-2 with an unassisted goal to close the first period.
Greensboro added a Sam Ftorek goal in the second period and Eric Fortier would notch the game winner on a five on three power play in the early stages of the third period. Ftorek and Fortier lead the team with ten goals on the season.
