
Gladiators fall to Charlotte, 6-3

Mike Vigilante extended his point-scoring streak to an ECHL season high 13 games but it wasn't enough as the Gladiators lost to the Charlotte Checkers 6-3 at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Thursday night.
Dusty Jamieson gave the Checkers a 1-0 lead at 11:37 of the first period. Blaz Emersic set up Jamieson on a two-on-one break and beat Garnett on the centering pass.
Mike Vigilante roofed a shot right along the goal line to tie the game at one. Wes Fox added an assist on the Gladiators goal at the 12:20 mark of the first period.
Charlotte regained the lead as Allan Egeland snapped a shot out of a pack and over the sholder of Garnett at the 16 minute mark of the period. Kengo Ito added an assist on the goal.
Blaz Emersic extended the Chalrotte lead to 3-1 before the end of the first period with a shorthanded goal with 35 seconds left in the stanza. Dusty Jamieson picked up a helper on the give-and-go play.
Cam Brown slipped a puck past St. Germain at 6:41 of the second period to cut the Charlotte lead to one goal. Troy Milam added an assist on the Gladiators second tally of the game.
Charlotte regained the two-goal advantage with their second shorthanded goal of the night as Dave Inman slipped out of the Gladiators zone and beat Garnett on a breakaway at 11:09 of the second.
The Gladiators answered on the power play 22 seconds later on a goal by Blue Bennefield. Mike Vigilante and Troy Milam added the assists on the Gladiators first power play goal in over five periods of action.
Charlotte regained its two-goal lead at 3:25 of the third period as Ryan Cuthbert beat Garnett on a one timer, Konrad McKay added an assist on the goal.
Charlotte extended its lead to three goals as McKay slipped a puck past Garnett at 6:25 of the third. Dave Inman and Benoit Dusablon added the assists on the goal.
The Gladiators are back in action tomorrow as they travel to Greenville to take on the Grrrowl for a 7:05 start before returning home to the Arena at Gwinnett Center to take on the Columbia Inferno for a 7:35 p.m. start at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Saturday. It's team poster night sponsored by Signs by Tomorrow – Duluth.
