Royals Join Forces with Penn State Berks Ice Hockey to Host Youth Hockey Clinics

Reading, PA- The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, and the Penn State Berks Ice Hockey program today jointly announced that the Royals will host a series of hockey clinics at Santander Arena in Reading conducted by the PSU - Berks coaching staff and players for youth ice hockey players in the Greater Reading Region and surrounding areas.

"I believe that I speak for the entire Penn State Berks Ice Hockey community when I say we are genuinely excited for the partnership established with the Reading Royals this year," said Penn State Berks Ice Hockey Head Coach Steve Rowe. "The sole purpose of this venture is to further the cause of fostering and supporting youth hockey in the Greater Reading Area. The future of hockey rests in the dreams of young athletes working hard in early morning and late evening practices. The clinic series will help these young players develop and sharpen their skills to better themselves as hockey players."

The youth hockey clinics, which will focus on skating and skills in the early season sessions and will evolve into more game-oriented situations in later sessions, will kick off on Saturday, October 15 (8:00 - 9:30 am). (The current full schedule for the youth clinics is set out below.) Participants in the clinics will also receive a ticket to the Royals game at Santander Arena on the evening of the clinic. Registration for the first clinic on October 15 is currently open, but there are limited available spaces remaining. The clinics are currently scheduled for the following dates:

(i) Saturday, October 15 (8:00 - 9:30 am)

(ii) Saturday, November 12 (8:00 - 9:30 am)

(iii) Saturday, December 10 (8:00 - 9:30 am)

(iv) Saturday, January 21 (8:00 - 9:30 am)

(v) Saturday, March 4 (12:30 - 3:30 pm)

(vi) Saturday, March 25 (12:30 - 3:30 pm)

Season Sixteen of "Hometown Hockey" kicks off for the Royals on Saturday, October 15, (7:00 pm) when the Elmira Jackals visit Santander Arena. Season Tickets and individual game for the Royals' 2016-17 ECHL season are currently available. Call 610-898-7825 for more information.
