Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL today announced that the organization has entered into a radio network agreement with Clear Channel Communications under which the Royals' broadcast presentations will be heard live on True Oldies WRAW 1340 am in Reading and WLAN 1390 am The Ticket in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The Royals Radio Network presented by Transmissions by Arbogast will include the Royals' game night broadcasts, a weekly one-hour coach's show, and a brand new thirty-minute pre-game warm-up special feature-‘Rinkside with the Royals'-prior to Saturday night home games, which will be broadcast live from the Sovereign Center on WRAW's sister station, Y102 Rock Hits in Reading.

"We are extremely excited to launch the new Royals' Radio Network," said Royals' General Manager Gordon Kaye. "We're particularly pleased to work with our new broadcast partners at Clear Channel Communications, who stepped up late last season and provided us with a broadcast platform during our playoff run to ensure that our fans could hear all of our games live. Our new radio network not only expands coverage as far as the areas in which our games can be heard, but also expands content available for our fans, including the new ‘Rinkside with the Royals' show on Y102 which ought to be a fun way for our fans to get pumped up for our Saturday night home games this year."

"We're extremely pleased to welcome the Royals' broadcasts to our family of stations," said John Rizzuto, the General Manager of Clear Channel Reading. "The Royals are an important part of our community, and we're glad to be able to provide their broadcasts a home in Reading, while also expanding the team's broadcast coverage into the Lancaster area."

The Royals game night broadcast format will remain virtually unchanged with the pre-game warm-up show beginning thirty minutes before the opening face-off and concluding with a post-game wrap up show after the game action. The new Royals Radio Network will also carry the team's weekly one-hour coach's show ‘Royals Radio Recon,' which will once again air on Tuesday nights from 6 - 7 pm. Team broadcaster Mark Thompson will continue to handle the game action play-by-play, as well as serve as the host for Royals' Radio Recon. It is expected that the Royals' game night broadcasts and the coach's show will continue to be available on the internet, and home games will still be heard within the confines of the Sovereign Center on 99.3 fm by virtue of the in-arena broadcast presented by Deibler Dental.

The Royals will also add a new element to the team's broadcast presentation with ‘Rinkside with the Royals,' which will air on Y102 fm Rock Hits beginning at 6:00 pm prior to every Saturday night game at the Sovereign Center this season. The half-hour program, which will be co-hosted by Y102 DJ Chuck Corbin and Mark Thompson, will be broadcast live from the recently renovated ice level pub in the northeast corner of the Sovereign Center. The new show will feature interaction with a widely varying cast of characters, including some of the Royals most ardent supporters-the team's fans. Everyone is encouraged to attend and participate in what is expected to be a fun and lively way to warm-up for Saturday night hockey in Reading.

The Royals open the 2008-09 regular season against the Elmira Jackals on Friday, October 17, 2008 at First Arena in Elmira, New York. The Royals' home opener is set for Saturday, October 25, 2008, when the Johnstown Chiefs visit the Sovereign Center. Royals' full Season Tickets and Total Choice Flex Plans are now on sale.
