Florida Everblades News Release

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron today announced the team has re-signed forward Brad Herauf to a contract for the 2008-09 season.

Herauf enters his second season with the Everblades after posting 32 points (13g, 19a) and 229 penalty minutes in 64 games last year. The Regina, Saskatchewan native led the team and ranked seventh in the ECHL with his PIM total.

"Brad is a guy who plays the game with a lot of passion." Cameron said. "He showed last year the ability to rise to the occasion in big games, and it was a priority of ours to bring him back. Plus I know the fans will be excited to see him back in an Everblades jersey!"

Herauf, who turns 26 on August 24, also showed a scoring touch setting a career-high in 2007-08 with a six-game point scoring streak in February, and his point total was the second highest in his professional career.

"I'm real excited about returning to the Everblades." Herauf added. "Personally I can't wait for the season because I think we're going to have a team to challenge for the championship. I think Malcolm has done a great job bringing a good combination of players together and I think we'll be a tough opponent for the other teams to play against."

Herauf was originally acquired by the Everblades prior to the 2007-08 season after spending two years with the Utah Grizzlies. In 2006-07 Herauf picked up 25 points (11g, 14a) and amassed 212 penalty minutes in 50 games with Utah. During the 2005-06 campaign, his first with the Grizzlies, he racked up a career-high 344 PIM while scoring 13 goals and adding 17 assists in 72 games.

The 5-foot-11 winger began his professional career with a pair of seasons in the Central Hockey League with the Oklahoma City Blazers. Herauf put together his best season offensively in 2004-05 when he notched a career-high 39 points (22g, 17a) in 50 games. During his first professional season in 2003-04, Herauf tallied eight points (3g, 5a) and 157 PIM in 29 games.
