OMAHA, Neb. - Jeff Fulchino pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings and the Omaha Royals defeated Portland 7-1 Wednesday afternoon at Rosenblatt Stadium to snap the Beavers' six-game winning streak.

Mitch Maier hit his third home run of the year, Ryan Shealy was 3-for-4 with double and an RBI, and Mike Aviles scored three runs to lead the Royals (16-15).

Fulchino (1-0), who was making his second start for the Royals, struck out four and scattered three walks in the victory. An error led to an unearned run off Devon Lowery in his 2 1/3 innings of relief work, and Neal Musser worked a 1-2-3 ninth as the Royals held Portland to just four hits.

Josh Geer (2-3) gave up six runs, seven hits and four walks in six innings to suffer the loss, his first on the road this season.
