
Royals Danny Duffy Expected to Make MLB Rehab Start with Naturals on Saturday Night

SPRINGDALE, Ark - The Northwest Arkansas Naturals' parent club, the Kansas City Royals, announced that starting pitcher Danny Duffy is expected to make a MLB rehab start with the Naturals on Saturday night - April 20 - against the Springfield Cardinals. The game against the Double-A Cardinals will begin at 6:05 p.m. with gates opening to the public at 4:30 p.m.
Duffy, 30, has been a mainstay in the Kansas City Royals' rotation since the 2011 season. Over eight (8) big league seasons, the left-hander is 53-55 with a 3.92 earned run average in 924.1 innings pitched while striking out 811 batters. His best season for the Royals was in 2016 when the California-native struck out 188 hitters in 179.2 innings while going 12-3 with a 3.51 ERA.
The former third round pick in the 2007 draft was a major contributor for the Naturals during their 2010 Texas League Championship season. Duffy went 5-2 with a 2.95 ERA in seven (7) regular season starts for the Naturals. He also made two (2) post-season starts for the club and earned the win in Game 1 of the Texas League Championship Series against Midland.
