
Royals close out Storm, meet Trenton for North Division title

The Reading Royals began the week in the Sports Arena in Toledo, Ohio. Three third period goals propelled the Royals to a game four series-clinching victory, 5-2. The Royals opened their best-of-five North Division Finals series with the Trenton Titans on Friday. As hosts of the first two games, Reading got off to a flying start winning game one, 4-2. Preston Mizzi (2g) and Ryan Kinasewich (2a) led the way for Reading with two-point efforts. The Titans evened up the series the very next night in the Sovereign Center with a hard fought 2-1 win. Captain Rick Kowalsky tallied the game winner on a five-on-three power play with under a minute to play in the second period.
The series shifts to Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, New Jersey this week. Reading posted a 1-3-1 mark in Trenton during the regular season. The two games in Trenton mark the first time ever the Royals have played the Titans in the postseason in Trenton, New Jersey.

GAME NOTES: Barry Brust stopped 38 shots to post his third straight playoff victory, while Ryan Kinasewich (1g, 2a) and Jeff Miles (2g, PP, GW) combined for five points to help Reading advance to the next round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Reading won the series three games to one and improved their all-time playoff record against the Storm to 6-6.

GAME NOTES: The Royals won their fourth straight postseason game knocking off Trenton 4-2 in the Sovereign Center. Preston Mizzi (2g, SH) paced Reading with the first and last tallies and Ryan Kinasewich (2a) recorded his second straight multiple-point effort.

GAME NOTES: Andrew Allen stopped 30 shots to help Trenton even the best-of-five series at a game apiece. BJ Abel and Rick Kowalsky accounted for the Titan goals, while Reading's lone marker came from the stick of Beau Geisler. Both teams added a power-play marker in the contest.

GAME NOTES: The Royals have struggled in Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, New Jersey this season. Reading's lone win came on December 4, 2004. Former Royal Mike Souza accounted for the game winner in the third period as Reading skated to a 2-1 win. The Royals are 1-3-1 in Trenton this season.

GAME NOTES: This game will be a clinching game for one of the two teams in this series. The Royals are 5-14-1 in the regular season all-time versus the Titans. This is the second of two games in this series in Trenton.

After dropping game one of the best-of-five series stopping 28 of 29 shots, Brust posted back-to-back shutouts to give Reading a 2-1 edge in the series. The Swan River, Manitoba native stopped 31 shots in the Royals 1-0 victory on Saturday night followed by a 42-save shutout performance in game three in the Royals 2-0 victory.

He followed that performance with a two-assist output against Trenton in Reading's 4-2 game one win in the North Division Finals.
