Victoria Royals News Release
Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals, along with the Western Hockey League (WHL), have announced the conclusion of the 2019-20 regular season due to COVID-19.
Due to this decision, the Royals remaining four regular season games of the 2019-20 WHL Regular Season schedule will be cancelled and not played. The league will continue to monitor ongoing public health developments regarding COVID-19 and will make every possible effort to conduct the 2020 WHL Playoffs at a later date.
"We support the WHL's decision to conclude the remainder of the 2019-20 regular season," Royals President & General Manager Cameron Hope said. "This is time for all of us to do all we can to support the health and welfare of everyone in our community and beyond. We are hopeful that we will be able to forge ahead with the WHL Playoffs when the time is right. For now, hockey can wait."
The final standings for the 2019-20 WHL Regular Season are determined by using win percentage for all clubs. As a result, the Royals concluded the regular season third in the BC Division with a record of 32-24-6-2 for 72 points in 64 games and a win percentage of 0.563 (see below for full 2019-20 WHL Regular Season Standings).
The Royals encourage all ticket holders to continue to hold on to their tickets for the three cancelled home games. These tickets will be valid for the 2020 WHL Playoffs or the 2020-21 WHL Regular Season. All Royals ticket pack members will receive full details as part of their 2020-21 renewal package that will be sent out at a later date.
