Royals Announce 2020-21 Regular Season Schedule

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals are pleased to announce their 24-game schedule for the 2020-21 Western Hockey League (WHL) Regular Season.

All five BC Division clubs will play exclusively within the Hub Centers of Kamloops and Kelowna, under an approved WHL cross-Hub Center model. The Royals and the Kelowna Rockets will be based out of Kelowna and will play all their home games at Prospera place, while the Kamloops Blazers, Prince George Cougars and Vancouver Giants will play their home contests at the Sandman Centre in Kamloops.

The Royals will begin their 2020-21 regular season on Friday, March 26th, as the away team, against the Rockets. Victoria's first "home" game will take place on Monday, March 29th when they host Prince George at Prospera Place. The Royals will conclude their season versus Kelowna, as the "road" team on Wednesday, May 12th.

Victoria will play their 24-game schedule in a span of just 48 days and will face each team six times, with an equal split of three "home" games and three "road" contests. All games in Kelowna, except for April 11th at 2:00 p.m., are scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. start. Puck drop for all games in Kamloops are scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Fans will be able to catch all of Victoria's games on the newly launched WHL Live on CHL TV. In the coming days, Royals' Ticket Pack Members will receive special streaming package options that will allow them to watch the team safely and conveniently from the comfort of their own homes. The WHL has developed an extensive set of protocols and believe the protective Hub environment will provide a high standard of safety, for not only players and staff, but the Kamloops and Kelowna communities at large. The WHL will implement an ongoing weekly private PCR testing strategy, with all tests being processed by DynaLIFE Labs out of Edmonton, Alta.

Enhanced screening for all WHL players, team staff and officials will also take place on a daily basis, including regular temperature screenings as well as symptom monitoring through the WHL Athlete RMS Mobile Application. Masks must be worn by all WHL players at all times with the exception of when participating on ice for games and practices. WHL coaches will be required to wear masks at all times, including while conducting practice and while behind the bench during games.

As the WHL returns to play in the WHL Hub Centers in Kamloops and Kelowna, no spectators will be permitted to enter Sandman Centre or Prospera Place.
