Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that the organization has agreed to terms with forward Shawn Collymore ["COLL ih moor"]. A 23 year old who hails from LaSalle, Quebec, Collymore (6'00"/190 lbs.) scored twenty-three goals and added twenty-six assists in 61 regular season games for the Danbury Trashers of the United Hockey League last season. Collymore served to fuel the Trashers run to the Colonial Cup Finals last season with eight goals and (a league leading) 14 assists (22 points) in 18 playoff games. Collymore, who was considered a rookie last season despite playing 49 games with the Toledo Storm of the ECHL in 2004-05, led all UHL rookies (and the Trashers) by playing to a +44 in his 61 regular season games.

A fifth round pick (#139 overall) of the New York Rangers in 2001, Collymore began his major junior career when he made a stacked Quebec Remparts team (which was comprised of no fewer than five first round NHL draft picks) in 1999 as an under-aged sixteen year old. In his second season with the Remparts, Collymore was selected as an alternate captain and racked up a team leading 43 assists and 67 points in 71 games. In his third year in the QMJHL, 2001-02, Collymore served as the team's captain and was second on the club with 57 points in just 52 games. Collymore split 2002-03 with Quebec and the Val-d'Or Foreurs but racked up a career high total of 33 goals in 69 regular season games. After completing his junior career with Val-d'Or, Collymore joined the Toledo Storm where he scored seven goals and assisted on nineteen others, while being selected as the team's most improved player. That season, one of Collymore's seven goals proved to be a game winner against the Royals, in a 2-1 Storm victory at the Toledo Sports Arena on February 5, 2005.

Last season, shortly after racking up his first career pro hattrick on February 8 against the Elmira Jackals, Collymore exploded for eleven goals and twelve assists (23 points) over the course of fourteen games from February 14 through March 19. In fact, during that stretch Collymore peeled off a six game goal scoring streak, during which he also had six consecutive multi-point performances (8g - 7a = 15 points in 6 games), earning him the honor of being selected the UHL's Player of the Week on March 19, as well as the league's Rookie of the Month for March. Collymore might have saved his best for last, however, as he racked up eight points in the final four games of the Trashers' regular season (3g - 5a), which included a career high four assist performance on the final game of the regular season against the Roanoke Valley Vipers. That scoring spree continued right through the playoffs as Collymore's twenty-two playoff points (8g - 14a) in 18 games was second only to teammate David Beauregard (12g - 11a = 23pts), as the Trashers made it all the way to the league finals before being eliminated four games to one by the Kalamazoo Wings.

Full season ticket and total choice flex plans for the 2006-07 season of Royals' hockey are currently on sale. For more information, contact the Royals' office at 610-898-7825 or visit the Royals website, www.royalshockey.com.
