Johnson joins Titans for 2006-07

TRENTON, NJ (August 29, 2006) - The Trenton Titans announced on Tuesday that they have agreed to terms with forward Gregg Johnson for the 2006-07 season. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Johnson, 24, skated with the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League (AHL) last season recording seven goals, 22 assists and 45 penalty minutes in 79 games.

Now a third-year pro, Johnson put up career numbers during his rookie season in 2004-05 with the now-defunct Pee Dee Pride when he led the squad in goals (27), assists (36) and points (63).

Hailing from Windsor, CT, Johnson played four seasons of collegiate hockey at Boston University (2000-04). The 6-0, 185-pounder totaled 47 points (14g, 33a) and 110 PIM in 125 contests for the Terriers and also was a teammate of current Titans forward Brian McConnell.

A former eighth round draft pick (#256 overall) of the Ottawa Senators in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Johnson joined Binghamton for six games following his senior season at BU and potted his first professional goal. Johnson will attend the training camp of the Norfolk Admirals (AHL).

Johnson becomes the fourteenth player to sign with the Titans for the 2006-07 season, including forwards Scott Bertoli, Alex Goupil, Les Haggett, Jim Henkel, Brian McConnell, Scott Selig, Scott Sheppard, Rob Sich and Peter Zingoni and defensemen Chris Cava, Jerramie Domish, Peter Tormey and Brian Yandle.
