
Royals Add Three with Tryout Agreements

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed goaltender Ryan Klingensmith, defenseman Brock Sawyer, and goaltender Shawn Sirman to ECHL Tryout Agreements.
Klingensmith (5'9/180) (25), who hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, played for the Cape Cod Bluefins of the Federal Hockey League last season (2-4-0, 4.86, .892). Prior to that, he had a four-year collegiate career at Norwich University. Sawyer (5'11/202) (26), who is from Toronto, Ontario, recorded twelve points (1g-11a12pts) and thirty-six penalty minutes in fifty-six games for the Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League last season. Prior to turning pro, Sawyer had a four-year college career at Elmira College. Sirman (6'0/196) (23), who hails from Blezard Valley, Ontario, played the last two years at New England College. This past season, he compiled a record of 8-12-4 with a 2.98 GAA, and a .903 save percentage with one shutout. Prior to that, he spent two years at the University of Maine.
The on-ice practice sessions for the Royals' 2013-14 Pre-Season Training Camp begin this Saturday (October 5, 2013) at 10:00 am at the Sovereign Center and continue through Thursday, October 17. The Training Camp Schedule, which is set out below, will feature two Pre-Season Games and the second annual Making Moments & Miracles Hockey Skills Challenge. All Training Camp on-ice practice sessions will be held at the Sovereign Center and are open to the public.
The Royals will face the Wheeling Nailers at the Sovereign Center on Friday, October 11 (7:05 pm) in the team's first pre-season game. The Royals have once again partnered with the Reading Eagle to invite everyone to attend this game for FREE! Fans can gain admission to the Royals' home pre-season game simply by presenting the coupon that will be published in the Reading Eagle Sports Section beginning tomorrow (Thursday, October 3) through October 11. Pre-Season Game Two is set for Saturday, October 12, when the Royals will travel to First Arena in Elmira, New York, where they will take on the Elmira Jackals (7:05 pm).
On Sunday, October 13 (12:00 noon - 5:00 pm), the Royals will host the second annual Making Moments & Miracles Hockey Skills Challenge presented by I-105 WIOV and CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 fm. The event will feature the Royals' players and standouts from local youth hockey organizations displaying their skills in an afternoon of fun competition. As with last season, the MM&M Hockey Skills Challenge will transform the Sovereign Center into a carnival-like atmosphere, while serving to benefit the Children's Miracle Network at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital and The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
