Aces Assigned Brossoit, Martin and Davies from Abbotsford

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces, proud affiliate of the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, announced today that goaltender Laurent Brossoit (Lore-EN bro-SWAH), defenseman James Martin and defenseman Zach Davies have been assigned to the Aces from the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League.

Abbotsford is the AHL affiliate of the Aces and Flames.

Brossoit, 20, suited up for the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League from 2008-13 and went 88-34-9 in 147 career games along with ten shutouts, a .909 save percentage and 2.59 goals against average. He was named to the WHL Eastern Conference All-Star Team (second) last season when he finished the regular season among the league leaders in multiple categories. He ranked third in goals against average (2.25), sixth in save percentage (.917), and seventh in wins (33) and shutouts (5).

The 6-foot-2, 192-pound goaltender helped guide Edmonton to a berth in the Memorial Cup and was named Most Valuable Player for the WHL postseason in 2011-12. He was selected by the Flames in the sixth round (164th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Martin, 22, skated in 44 ECHL games with the Utah Grizzlies last season and racked up 13 points (3g-10a) and 54 penalty minutes while suiting up in four Kelly Cup Playoff games.

The 6-foot-2, 192-pound defenseman has 33 career games of AHL experience in Abbotsford with four points and 30 penalty minutes. Previously, he helped guide the Kootenay Ice to a WHL championship in 2010-11 and collected 52 points and a +3 rating in 189 total WHL games with Kootenay and Swift Current.

Davies, 25, earned the ECAC Best Defensive Defenseman award and all-league Third Team honors last season when he had a career-high 17 points and +17 rating in 43 games with Quinnipiac University (NCAA). That year, he also helped guide Quinnipiac to the NCAA National Championship game and the program's first ever Cleary Cup for the conference's regular season title.

The 6-foot, 185-pound blueliner enters the professional ranks after skating in 158 career college games the Bobcats and collecting 55 points and a +21 rating.

Brossoit and Davies were a part of the Flames roster at the 2013 YoungStars Classic in Penticton, British Columbia.

The following players, who have agreed to terms with the Aces for the 2013-14 season, have also been released from training camp with Abbotsford:

Aces training camp will open at Ben Boeke Ice Arena on Friday, Oct. 4 at 10:00 a.m. All Aces practices at Ben Boeke are open the public and free-of-charge.

The Aces will begin their 2013-14 season at home on Friday, Oct. 18 at Sullivan Arena when they host the San Francisco Bulls.
