Montreal Royal News Release

Montreal, Canada. The ABA Montreal Royal won their second straight game in dramatic fashion over the Cape Cod Frenzy by a score of 89-84. The game marked the unveiling of the team's new name and new uniforms. The blue and white uniforms seemed to inspire the newly named pro team as they came out with great intensity taking an early 11 point lead. Leading the way for the Royal was Shawn Browne and Damon Jones with 24 and 17 points respectively. The Frenzy's Rashid Al-Kaleem led all scorers with 28 points.

The Royal also had a special guest on hand as their 13th man celebrity player. Montreal Alouette's Quarterback Anthony Calvillo was inserted into the line-up and was greeted with a warm welcome as he was introduced to the fans prior to the game. Calvillo saw action in the first half registering one missed shot and one turnover.

Montreal is plays again over the weekend at Quebec City to face the Kebs, then returns home on Sunday to face the tough Strong Island Sound. Tip off is at 4pm. The English Montreal School Board has declared January 21st as their Official Basketball Day. Students and staff will be on hand to cheer on the Royal.
