
Nighthawks blow out Sea Dawgs, 123-98

Rockville, MD - Dennis Edwards scored 20 points and Anton Jenifer had 19 points and five rebounds off the bench for Maryland in a 123-98 victory over the Wilmington Sea Dawgs in a game that had eight technical fouls and two ejections.
Nighthawks' All-Star Andrew Washington and Brian Williams received double technical foul after exchanging words with 7:37 remaining in the third quarter. It was Washington's second technical foul of the quarter resulting in his ejection. The Nighthawks bench also received a technical foul due to Washington's ejection. Wilmington's converted three of four foul shots and taking a 63-55 lead, part of a 10-2 run.
Wilmington extended their lead to 73-68 with 3:08 left in the third quarter before the game took a complete swing. Randy Gill (15 points) hit a 17-foot jumper and Wilmington's head coach Kevin Whitted picked up a technical foul after arguing with an official. Anton Jenifer knocked down two technical foul shots cutting the Wilmington's lead to 72-73. Jenifer then forced a turnover in the backcourt on the ensuing possession resulting in a 3D opportunity. Randy "White Chocolate" Gill capitalized by hitting a 24-foot three pointer, putting the Nighthawks up 76-73. Another steal in the backcourt by the Nighthawks led to a Hugh "Baby Shaq" Jones (seven points) 3D three-pointer giving the Nighthawks an 80-73 lead with 1:14 remaining in the third period.
Eight seconds later, Wilmington's Charles Ward was called for an offensive foul and picked up his second technical foul after arguing the call resulting in his ejection. Wilmington's bench picked up a technical foul due to Ward's ejection and Wilmington's assistant coach Jerry Hobbie also picked up a technical foul. The Nighthawks made five of the six technical foul shots giving Maryland an 85-73 lead with 1:06 remaining in the third quarter.
After Wilmington's Kendrick Jones hit two free throws, David Bailey missed a lay-up, but stole the ball from Wilmington in the backcourt and made a 3D layup. Wilmington's Clarence Todd then turned the ball over in the backcourt and Anton's Jenifer hit a 3-foot jumper on the 3D possession while being fouled. Jenifer's free throw capped off Maryland's 27-2 run in a 3:45 span.
The Nighthawks had six players scoring in double figures. All-Star Cedric McGinnins led Wilmington with 18 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
