Jam defeat Silverbacks
January 20, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Jacksonville Slam News Release
Jacksonville, FL. The Jacksonville Jam came from behind to defeat the Buffalo Silverbacks in front of a loud and enthusiastic crowd at UNF Arena in Jacksonville on Friday night, 105-96. Jacksonville came out cold in the first quarter as Buffalo scored the first ten points of the game. But the Jam had a 16-9 run to cut the Silverbacks lead to just 3 at the end of the first quarter, 19-16.
The second quarter belonged totally to Buffalo as the Silverbacks would score 40 points in the quarter and led by 13 points, 59-46 at halftime. The Jam came out in the third quarter looking like a different team. Newcomer, Bobby St. Preux, would immediately make his presence felt by hitting two long three pointers from the right baseline to cut the Silverbacks lead in half. From that point, a back and forth battle ensued with Jacksonville cutting into the Buffalo lead and Buffalo spurting back in front. Buffalo led 81-76 going into the final quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Jacksonville could not be denied by playing inspired and tough team basketball on both ends of the court. They held Buffalo to only 15 points in the final quarter and only 37 in the second half. The Jam were able to seal their 17th victory of the season.
Nick Wallery continued his banner play for the Jam and recorded his third double/double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. DeRon Rutledge added 20 points and 6 rebounds. Bobby St. Pruex, an ABA All-Star just added to the Jam roster) scored 18. Lamar Castile led Buffalo with 25 while Dueny followed with 24. Jacksonville is off until next Friday night when they host the Orlando Aces. Tip-off is scheduled for 705pm at UNF Arena. Come out and be part of the Friday Night Jam.
