Jacksonville Slam News Release

The Jacksonville JAM defeated Team FSA 117-92 in a pre-season exhibition game this past Sunday held at Edward Waters College. Team FSA is a Filipino All-Star Team that is the 3-time defending national champion of the PIBNA (Philippine Inter-city Basketball of North America). Their teamwork showed as Team FSA held close throughout the first three quarters, easily breaking the press and forcing 23 JAM turnovers throughout the game. The JAM, who still have some time before they have to trim the final roster size down to ten, suited 14 players. Five JAM players finished in double digits led by 7 footer Ron Alexander and Paul Wright who both chipped in 17 with Antonio Lawrence and Jarekus Singleton contributing 13 points apiece. Team FSA got an outstanding effort by Nic Stephen, who led all scorers with 35 points, and former Flagler College standout Robbie Reyes, who poured in 20 points.

Coach Mike Gillespie is looking for the best fit to make his final cuts within the next week or so. "I liked what I saw out there from the guys on the bubble" stated Gillespie. "It should be a great week in camp this week as we look to finalize our opening day roster. The game this upcoming Saturday should separate those guys who'll elevate their game to make this team"

The JAM is scheduled to play their next exhibition game this Saturday, December 15 at 3PM and will again hold it at Edward Waters College, 1658 Kings Road, Jacksonville 32209. Admission will be $1 and all proceeds will go to the EWC Athletics program.
