Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

Grand Junction dropped its season-high sixth straight on Thursday as an 11-2 loss to Billings at Dehler Park sent the Rockies to third place in the Pioneer League South.

Just four hitters into the game, Mitchell Kilkenny found himself in an early hole as Reniel Ozuna cleared the bases with a three-run triple and RBI singles from Leonardo Seminati and Reyny Reyes gave the Mustangs a 5-0 lead in the first.

With Kilkenny chased after just two outs, Billings added three more in the third against Zach Guth with the help of walks, wild pitches, and Reyes' second run-scoring knock of the day that pushed GJ's deficit to 8-0.

Although Reese Berberet got the Rox their first run of the game in the seventh by scoring on Patrick Raby's wild pitch, the Mustangs immediately got it back two batters into the bottom half via another Seminati RBI-this time against Anderson Bido.

Trailing 11-1 in the top of the ninth, Todd Isaacs scored Brenton Doyle on a double for a concession run to make it 11-2 but Jeffry Nino struck out five in two innings to close out his club's fourth straight win.

Omar Conoropo earned his fifth victory of the season after tossing five scoreless in his start while Kilkenny absorbed his second loss after allowing five earned and failing to make it through a full inning.

After finishing 1-6 on their Montana road trip, the Rockies will take Friday off before hosting Orem for the first of eight straight at Suplizio Field.
