BROCKTON - The Brockton Rox (12-9) defeated the Can-Am Grays (9-12) by a score of 5-3 on Thursday night to complete a four-game sweep.
The Rox took the lead in the bottom of the second inning. Eugene Julien brought home Kris Zacuto with a sacrifice fly, and Guye Senjem scored on a single by Matt Cucurullo.
In the seventh inning the Rox increased their lead. With the bases loaded and two out, Brian Jones singled to score Saul Bustos and Jake Daubert to give the Rox a 4-0 lead.
The Rox added one final run in the bottom of the ninth when Senjem scored on Hector Henriquez's fly ball.
The Grays rallied in the top of the ninth, scoring three runs before Tony Stutz retired B.J. Weed on a groundout to third base.
Kevin Beavers (1-0) picked up the win, throwing 6.1 shutout innings in his first start of the year. Brad Esarey (1-1) suffered the loss for the Grays.
