Brockton Rox News Release
NASHUA, NH -After a heartbreaking 1-0 loss in the first game of a doubleheader with Nashua, the Rox pulled out a 10-4 victory in the second game of two tonight in front of 1,421 fans at Holman Stadium in Nashua, NH. Brockton returns home after a 2-5 road trip but a series win against the Pride, their second series victory of the season.
In the first game, neither team scored in the first six innings. Rox RHP Robert Averette worked out of trouble in the fifth and sixth frames, stranding five runners on base and preserving his shutout. Nashua RHP Dan Reichert allowed just four hits in seven innings. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Pride 1B Billy Becher drove a seeing-eye single through the right sidc to give the Pride a 1-0 victory over the Rox and hand Averette his third loss.
The Rox wasted no time in the second game getting on the scoreboard. Three consecutive bunt singles by SS Eugene Julien, 2B Mike Scanzano, and RF Keith Brachold set up a DH Guye Senjem two-run single against Nashua starter Mark Hamilton. The Rox scored three times in the first and six times in the third. Senjem drove home another run in the third as did C Jason Radwan, as Brockton used three hits, four walks, and two Nashua errors, sending 11 hitters to the plate en route to a 9-2 lead and a 10-4 win.
Tomorrow the Rox open a six-game homestand with the opener of a three- game set against the Sussex Skyhawks at Campanelli Stadium starting at 7:05. RHP Brad Guy (0-0, 2.14 ERA) makes his fourth start for Brockton.
