
Pride and Rox split

(Nashua, NH, June 8) The Nashua Pride and the Brockton Rox split a doubleheader Thursday evening before 1,421 fans at Historic Holman Stadium.
In the first game, Billy Becher's bases loaded single plated Tom Creighton in the bottom of the seventh inning snapping a scoreless tie and lifting Nashua (5-7) to a 1-0 victory. Nashua righthander Dan Reichert (2-0) scattered four hits over seven innings to post his second win of the season. The former Kansas City Royals pitcher struck out five and walked only one Brockton batter. Rob Averette (0-3) went the distance and suffered the loss, allowing ten hits.
Brockton (6-8) scored early and often in the second game and cruised to a 10-4 win. The Rox tallied three times in the first inning off Pride starter and loser Mark Hamilton (0-3). Guye Senjem stroked a two-run singles for the Rox after the first three Brockton batters of the game reached on bunt singles. Senjem drove in three runs on the night. The Rox added six runs in the third. The big blow was a two-run double by Eugene Julien. Brockton also took advantage of a pair of Nashua errors in the uprising.
Rox starter Rolando Vierra (1-1) pitched five innings to post his first win of the season. He allowed two earned runs on six hits, walking two and striking out six.
The Pride open a three-game series at home on Friday night against the New Jersey Jackals. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
