BROCKTON, MA - (July 13, 2009) - For the third straight night, the Brockton Rox came from behind to defeat the Quebec Capitales and in so doing, set a franchise record with the team's ninth consecutive win with a 5-4 victory on Monday night. Brockton has now won ten straight home games and swept two consecutive series.

In a rematch of two of the Can-Am League's best pitchers in Quebec's RHP Michel Simard and Brockton's LHP Craig Anderson, the Rox scored the first run of the game on an RBI single by DH Palmer Karr in the third inning, scoring CF Chris Valencia.

Quebec answered right back when 3B Patrick Deschenes led off the fourth inning with a solo home run. Deschenes has two home runs this year, and both have come against Anderson. The Capitales captured the lead in the fifth inning when DH Pierre-Luc LaForest drove in CF Goefrey Tomlinson to take a 2-1 advantage.

However in the sixth inning, 3B Phillip Cuadrado lined a two-run home run over the right field wall to give Brockton a lead it would not relinquish. The first four batters of the inning all reached base as the Rox chased Simard from the game. Against reliever LHP Mike Joyce, 1B Clyde Williams drove in C Chris Grossman and Valencia as the Rox surged to a 5-2 advantage.

Quebec chipped away at the lead, and chased Anderson from the game in the seventh inning after a solo home run by RF Sebastian Boucher and an RBI single by Deschenes cut the lead to 5-4.

From that point, the Rox bullpen took control. RHP Keith Noe recorded four outs with two strikeouts and RHP Jerry Dunn pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning, punctuated by a strikeout of LaForest to end the game.

Anderson became the third Can-Am League pitcher to reach five wins on the season with his victory.

The Rox have Tuesday off before beginning a four-game series with the American Defenders of New Hampshire on Wednesday which will conclude the first half of the season. Tuesday's first pitch in New Hampshire is scheduled for 6:35 PM. RHP Wayne Lundgren (4-4, 3.32 ERA) will start for the Rox.
