Sosa sends Tornadoes to 7-6 victory

AUGUSTA, N.J. - Carlos Sosa finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI to propel the Worcester Tornadoes to a 7-6 win on Monday night at Skylands Park. Sosa's RBI-double in the top of the first was part of a three run jumpstart for Worcester. Sosa added a solo homerun in the fifth and an RBI-single in the sixth for the Tornadoes.

Centerfielder Vinny Pennell was 2-for-5 with a run scored and Alex Trezza drove in two runs for Worcester.

Chris Farley gave up six runs (five earned) on six hits through seven innings to earn the win for Worcester. Farley walked four and struck out seven en route to his first win of the season. Santiago Ramirez threw a scoreless ninth to pick up his second save of the season. Justin Knoff gave up seven runs on 10 hits to take the loss for Sussex.

Sussex scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth, benefiting from five walks and two base hits to make it a 7-6 game. John Urick and Mark Pappas each had a pair of hits in the loss for the Skyhawks.

After an off day on Tuesday, the Skyhawks return to action on Wednesday at Quebec. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The Tornadoes will host New Jersey on Wednesday night, also at 7:05.
