Brockton Rox News Release

Brockton, MA (June 18, 2009) - Brockton Rox Manager Chris Carminucci will feel the grass between his toes at Campanelli Stadium on Thursday, June 18th as he manages his team against the Quebec Capitales in his bare feet. Carminucci and the Rox have partnered with Samaritan's Feet, a non-profit organization dedicated to changing lives through Shoes of Hope distributions around the world.

The goal of Samaritan's Feet is to equip ten million impoverished children with ten million shoes in the next ten years. Through its "Shoe of Hope" progam, the organization hosts major shoe-relief missions globally. Missions and shoe distributions have taken place in the United States, South America, Africa, and Europe.

On Thursday, June 18th, the Rox will participate in an event to help raise awareness for Samaritan's Feet and its goals during a game against the Quebec Capitales. The Rox starting lineup will be introduced in its bare feet and the players will line up for the National Anthem in their bare feet along the foul lines. Rox Manager Chris Carminucci will manage the entire game from the third-base coach's box in his bare feet.

The Rox will be auctioning off autographed pairs of spikes from Rox players on the concourse during the night, and will donate funds for each total base the team accumulates throughout the game. In between innings, the team will have special barefoot promotions including a shoe scramble, and barefoot performances by the Rox Fun Team.

Thursday night's first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. For more information on Samaritan's Feet and its programs, visit www.samaritansfeet.org.
