Rox Lose Game 1 of Doubleheader
June 18, 2016 - Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL)
Brockton Rox News Release
The Rox struggled to bring baserunners home as they left an astonishing 14 runners on base, and only scored 1 run.
The Navigators distanced themselves from Brockton for the majority of the game. Every player for the Navigators scored except for Beau Myers, but even he reached base 3 times.
David Griffin started the game for the Rox and pitched well. Going 6 innings, Griffin let up 4 runs, but only two of them were earned. An error in centerfield by Rox star Eric Feliz allowed two runs to score in the 3rd inning.
The bizarre stat of the game was the Rox out-hit the Navs 12-11, but lost 12-1, an 11 run differential.
Entering the 9th inning, the Navigators held a 6-1 lead, but a monster 9th inning by North Shore made it almost impossible for a comeback. The punctuation mark was when the 7th batter of the inning, Drew Delsignore, stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and hit a towering grand slam to left field to put the game out of reach.
The Rox (7-8) look to get back to .500 as they take on the Navigators (2-12) once again tonight. The Game will be played at Campanella Stadium and first pitch is at 7:05. Come and enjoy Fireworks after the ballgame!
