Brockton Rox News Release
The magic number is now 5 for Brockton as they win their fifth straight after dropping their first three.
It was a wild and interesting night at Campenelli Stadium. Trent Turner blasted a home run to right field to take a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning. But things got strange afterwards.
Brockton scored 3 more unanswered runs. All three runs came without a hit being produced. Wild pitches, stolen bases, walks, and errors contributed to 3 insurance runs. McManus had an RBI in the 4th that brought in Turner, which came by way of a sac fly.
Jake Hamilton was lights out in 5 innings of work. Not only did he fan 5 batters, but the Shark's couldn't manage to get a hit in his time on the mound.
Martha's Vineyard wouldn't go down without a fight. The Shark's scored 3 runs in the 7th that condensed the lead to 1 and made it a 4-3 ballgame. But hopes of a Sharks comeback were wiped away in the 8th inning when Brockton tacked on 5 runs (also scored once in the seventh), cruising the rest of the way to a 10-3 victory.
Brockton's bats fail to disappoint. The Rox are averaging a staggering 9.4 runs during the win streak. The entire lineup has been stable, getting contributions from all 9 batters.
Game three of four game homestead is tomorrow night as the Rox take on the Wachusett Dirt Dogs. First pitch is at 7:05 at Campanelli Stadium. Come enjoy your Brockton Rox in action and enjoy the stellar fireworks after the game!
