Martha's Vineyard Sharks News Release

The Sharks took a step back from their comeback victory against the Navigators the other night as the Sharks lost to the Sea Coast Mavericks for the second consecutive time, with a final score of 11-3. The last meeting between the Sharks and Mavericks also resulted in the Mavericks scoring 11 runs. The Sharks are now 4-3 on the season while the Mavericks improved to 3-4.

The Sharks got the first run of the game in the first inning on an outfield error committed by the Mavericks. From there the score remained 1-1 as Christian Bahlinger (Spring Hill College) went 4 innings and gave up only one run, while striking out two and walking four. In the sixth inning the Mavericks opened up the game by scoring three runs. The Sharks couldn't find their way to another comeback victory as the runs kept coming after a four run 8th inning. Jacob Lebel (NYIT) sent a fastball over the fence to deep left in the 9th to finalize a victory for the Mavericks.

The Sharks are on the road this weekend as they square off against the Brockton Rox on Friday, Sea Coast again on Saturday, and the Nashua Silver Knights on Sunday. The Sharks are back at the Vineyard Baseball Park on June 14th at 7PM as they square off against the Pittsfield Suns.
