Rox Fall in Extras to Close out Homestand

St. Cloud, MN - The St. Cloud Rox concluded their six-game homestand on Saturday night at the Rock Pile with a back-and-forth extra inning affair with the Willmar Stingers.
In a game that had three lead changes, the Rox ended up falling to the Stingers 7-6 in 11 innings in St. Cloud.
St. Cloud jumped out to an early lead in the third inning, when Sean Ross (San Diego State) drove home a run to put the Rox up 1-0. After Willmar scored two runs in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth, St. Cloud answered back, scoring four runs in the sixth inning.
The sixth-inning outburst was capped off by a two-run home run from Ryan Weisenberg (Georgetown) to tie the game at 5-5. With the Stingers up 6-5 heading to the ninth, the Rox answered back once again, thanks to an RBI single from Ross to force extras. Willmar went on to score one run in the top of the 11th inning to come away with the game.
Weisenberg led St. Cloud in the game, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI. Connor Aube (Texas at Arlington) went 2-for-5 with one run scored, Ross went 1-for-4 with two RBI and Bobby Seymour (Wake Forest) and Ryland Kerr (Eastern Kentucky) both drove in one run.
Zach Lauzon pitched the first seven innings for St. Cloud, earning the no-decision. Landon Clifton (LSU Eunice) pitched two innings in relief, giving up three this and one run, while Hance Smith (California-Berkeley) pitched the final two innings.
St. Cloud (16-17 overall) hits the road on Sunday, kicking off a four-game road trip against Willmar, Bismarck and Duluth. The Rox will return home at 7:05 p.m. on July 5 to take on Duluth at the Rock Pile. That game will be Continuing the Independence Day Celebration Night presented by Kwik Trip, which will include a fireworks show immediately following the game.
