KALAMAZOO, MI - The Growlers dropped game one to Fond du Lac in the first of a six-game homestand. Sam Weatherly of Clemson University took the loss on the mound throwing 5.1 innings and allowing four runs on five hits.

The Dock Spiders started early with a three-run home run from Alex Erro of Northwestern University in the top of the third inning. Kalamazoo plated another run in the bottom of the fifth inning after Jason Sullivan got on base with a single then advanced on a Sam Faith single to centerfield. Sullivan swiped third base to put himself in scoring position. Sam Hall then reached first base on a fielder's choice allowing Sullivan to score and picking up an RBI.

The Dock Spiders kept the runs coming with another home run by Cole Zabowski of Ole Miss, to make the score 4 - 2 in favor of Fond du Lac. The Growlers then brought in pitcher Jeff Burch from Kalamazoo Valley Community College for relief with two outs remaining in the sixth inning. Burch finished out the inning and then went 2.2 innings allowing one run on two hits.

The Growlers made two throwing errors in the top of the seventh and Fond du Lac took advantage to score one more run making the score 5 - 2. The Growlers could not fight back and that is where the score remained for the rest of the game.

The two teams will be back at Homer Stryker Field tomorrow at 3:05 PM for Youth Sports Day presented by Kalamazoo Municipal Golf Association.
