Brockton Rox News Release

LITTLE FALLS, NJ- The Rox dropped their final game of the first half of the season by a score of 10-1 to the New Jersey Jackals at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls, NJ. In what amounted to a must-win game for the Jackals to keep their first-half title hopes alive, New Jersey struck for six runs in the third inning with two outs against RHP John Boker to hand the Rox their third loss in the four-game set. LF Eugene Julien drove in the only run for the Rox in the game and finished six for twelve in the series. The Rox finished the first half of play at 24-22, winning 13 of their final 18 games to finish two games above the .500 mark.

Jackals C Clay Kuklick drove home a run with an RBI double in the second inning against Boker, but the floodgates opened in the third frame. With two outs, Lindsey's towering drive just cleared the left field wall, giving the Jackals a 3-0 advantage. Later in the frame, 2B Guillermo Reyes cleared the bases with a three-run double, and 3B Andy Howdeshell completed the scoring with an RBI double to center.

The Rox managed just four hits in the game, including a 2B Mike Torres double in the fourth, his team-leading 11th of the season and fourth of the series. Torres also pitched an inning out of the bullpen in the eighth as the Rox trailed 10-1 in rainy conditions. Prior to the ninth inning, the umpires called for the tarp and both teams suffered through a rain delay for approximately one hour. The Rox came out for the final three outs in the ninth inning.

The Brockton Rox open the second half of the season in Lynn, MA on Friday by taking on the North Shore Spirit at 7:05 PM. LHP Rolando Viera, the lone Rox All-Star, takes the hill for Brockton.
