New Jersey took care of Brockton 10-1 behind a solid performance by starting pitcher Joel Bennett. Bennett picked up his third victory of the season by going seven solid innings allowing only one earned run on three hits with six strikeouts. Offensively, New Jersey was led this afternoon by SS Guillermo Reyes and DH John Lindsey who each had 2-for-4 outings with each scoring a run and driving in three runs apiece. Lindsey hit his eighth home run of the season as well. LF Eugene Julien went 1-for-3 with an RBI to aid Brockton in the losing effort.

North Shore 3, Sussex 1 (Game 1 - 7 innings)

North Shore got two runs in the bottom half of the first inning and never trailed in the game as they went on to beat Sussex by a two-run margin. Spirit starting pitcher Bryan Morse allowed just one run, earned, on four hits through 5.2 innings to pick up his sixth win of the season and to move North Shore within a win of the first half title in the Can-Am League. Closer Kevin Fitzgerald pitched the last 1.1 innings of the seven inning contest to record his eighth save of the season.

The Can-Am League's top pitcher, Ryan Bicondoa, sealed North Shore the top spot in the first half of league play, allowing three runs, all earned, on five hits in six innings of work to pick up his fifth win. Bicondoa struck out four and only walked one en route to improving his record to 5-0. North Shore DH Jeff Brooks was 3-for-4 in the game with a home run, his sixth of the season, and 2 RBIs to lead the Spirit at the plate. CF B.J. Weed was equally impressive at the plate, going 4-for-4 and scoring three times to go along with a run batted in.
