Hanser Alberto knocked in three runs and made three sensational defensive plays to support Stolmy Pimentel, who limited New Orleans to one run over five innings as the Round Rock Express defeated the Zephyrs, 6-1 in the opener of a five-game series on Wednesday night.

Top prospect Joey Gallo got the Express on the board in the fourth when he doubled in Brett Nicholas and Michael Choice added a sacrifice fly in the inning against Z's starter Rob Morey.

Tyler Pastornicky hit a solo home run for Round Rock in the fifth before Alberto brought home Jared Hoying with a sacrifice fly.

Morey (2-3) lasted six innings for New Orleans, allowing six hits and four runs, while striking out three. The right-hander came into play with a 1.99 ERA (9 earned runs in 40 2/3 innings)in 10 appearances at Zephyr Field, and had only allowed just two long balls at home.

Reid Brignac went 3-for-4 with two doubles, the 13th time this year a Zephyr posted two doubles in a game. The Z's second baseman's second double of the contest brought home Austin Wates, who had doubled off Pimentel to begin the frame.

Brady Shoemaker had two hits and Wates posted his first multi-hit effort since June 14 with a single and a double for the Zephyrs, who fell 13 games behind Round Rock for first place in the American South.

Lay Batista yielded two runs in two innings of relief for the Z's, the second straight game he has allowed runs and fifth time in his last six outings he's been scored upon.

New Orleans went 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.

The clubs will continue the series on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
