Bees Drop Series to River Cats

SALT LAKE CITY (Aug. 4) - The Sacramento River Cats secured a series victory with a 6-3 win over the Salt Lake Bees on Tuesday night at Smith's Ballpark. The Bees opened the scoring for the first time this series with a tally in the third on an Efren Navarro RBI single, but the River Cats jumped ahead with two runs in the fourth. The 'Cats never looked back as they padded their lead with three additional runs in the fifth and one in the ninth. The Bees put solo marks on the board in fifth and the ninth, but were unable to complete the comeback.

Nick Tropeano (3-5) was tagged with the loss after allowing five runs over four and two-thirds innings pitched. The Bees bullpen put in a solid effort as Edgar Ibarra, Ryan Verdugo and Vinnie Pestano combined to throw four and one-third innings of one-run ball. Navarro went four-for-five with two RBIs to assist in the Bees offensive effort, while Jett Bandy contributed two hits. Grant Green extended his hitting streak to a season-high 10 consecutive games with a three-for-five night. He also added a double for his seventh extra-base hit during the stretch.
