LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Las Vegas 51s secured a series victory with a 5-2 win over the Tacoma Rainiers on Tuesday night at Cashman Field.

Las Vegas jumped on Rainiers starter Chien-Ming Wang early, plating three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Dilson Herrera opened the frame with a double, moved to third on a lineout to center field, and scored the first run on an RBI single from Johnny Monell. Brandon Allen's triple scored Monell, and a throwing error by Shawn O'Malley pushed across Allen to give the 51s a 3-0 lead.

Wang did not allow another run after the first inning and ultimately pitched 7.0 innings, allowing just two earned runs on eight hits with two strikeouts.

The Rainiers scored a pair of runs in the fourth inning on a two-run single by O'Malley. Patrick Kivlehan drew a one-out walk and John Hicks blasted a double to left-center field to push the pair into scoring position and set up O'Malley's base knock.

Allen provided a pair of insurance runs with his two-run jack over the right field wall in the eighth inning, extending Las Vegas' lead to 5-2.

Stefen Romero (2x5) and Justin Ruggiano (2x3) recorded the only two multi-hit performances for the Rainiers. Ruggiano added a pair of walks to his effort, giving him two multi-walk games this season.

Reliever Jose Ramirez made his Rainiers debut after being optioned from Seattle on Monday night. The right-hander worked the final frame and allowed two runs on two hits with one walk.

The Rainiers (53-58) return home to begin a five-game series against the Reno Aces (53-57) tomorrow, August 4. Tacoma is expected to throw right-hander Jordan Pries (6-3, 5.25), while Reno will open the series with righty Aaron Blair (3-1, 4.50). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05p.m.
