ROUND ROCK, Texas - Val Majewski homered and drove in four runs as the Round Rock Express routed the Memphis Redbirds 13-4 in Wednesday night's Pacific Coast League action at The Dell Diamond. The Express (61-44) posted their highest run total since July 4 and evened the series at one game apiece. The Redbirds (52-52) have lost five of six and trail Round Rock in the season series 8-6.

In just his second game with the Express, Majewski was 3-for-4, including a two-run double and a solo homer. It was his first home run at the Triple-A level since Aug. 21, 2008, when he was a member of the Express as a Houston Astros farmhand.

Matt Kata also homered - a three-run shot to right that capped a four-run third inning for the Express. His homer erased a 3-2 deficit and proved to be the game-winning hit. It was Kata's 10th homer of the season; he is the fifth Express player to reach double figures in round-trippers this season, joining Chris Davis, Chad Tracy, Brad Nelson and Taylor Teagarden.

Express starter Zach Jackson (8-5) worked 5.0 innings for the win. He allowed four runs - three earned - on five hits and three walks with five strikeouts. Round Rock has won eight of his last 10 starts. Mark Hamburger tossed 2.0 scoreless innings, while Pedro Strop and Cody Eppley each logged an inning of scoreless relief.

Memphis starter Blaine Boyer (0-1) was roughed in his first start with the Redbirds. He surrendered eight runs - six earned - on nine hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. Boyer struck out one.

After the teams traded solo spots in the second inning, Memphis plated two runs on a hit, a walk and an Express error in the top of the third. However, Round Rock again answered, scoring four runs on three hits in the bottom of the inning. Brad Nelson scored the first run with a sacrifice fly ahead of Kata's three-run homer.

Aaron Luna led off the top of the fourth with a home run, but that was the end of the scoring for Memphis. Majewski mirrored Luna with a leadoff homer in the bottom of the fourth, and he ripped a two-run double in the fifth. Nelson added an RBI double in the sixth, and the Express plated four unearned runs on just one hit in the sixth.

Nelson was 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored, and Esteban German was 2-for-5 with three runs scored. German also stole a base, his 11th consecutive swipe without being caught. It was his 29th of the season, and he moved into sole possession of second place on Round Rock's single-season steals list.

Bryan Anderson and Adron Chambers both were 2-for-4 for the Redbirds.

Round Rock and Memphis continue their four-game series Thursday with a 7:05 p.m. CDT first pitch at The Dell Diamond. Right-hander Brett Tomko (5-3, 6.56 ERA) takes the mound for the Express, while right-hander Brandon Dickson (4-9, 4.28 ERA) is slated to toe the rubber for the Redbirds.
