Round Rock Express News Release
ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Round Rock Express begin a nine-game home stand Saturday, opening a four-game series against the Oklahoma City RedHawks (Houston Astros) with a 6:05 p.m. CDT first pitch. The series continues Sunday at 6:05 p.m., Monday at 7:05 p.m. and Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. This is the season's final home stand and will conclude Aug. 22-26 with a five-game series against the Nashville Sounds (Milwaukee Brewers).
Round Rock currently is the Pacific Coast League's hottest team. The Express entered Thursday night's game at Reno 15-6 since July 26, the league's best record in that time. Tickets are available through The Dell Diamond ticket office at 512.255.2255 or online at www.RoundRockExpress.com.
Saturday's series opener features the season's final postgame concert as the Texas Tornados perform as part of the St. David's Round Rock Express Summer Concert Series presented by Dell. Sunday is H-E-B Kids Day, and all kids age 12 and under get free Express lunch boxes courtesy of Mrs Bairds. Monday is Dollar Hot Dogs and Sodas presented by Mrs Bairds, and all tickets are buy-one-get-one Tuesday.
American Southern Division foes Round Rock and Oklahoma City have several connections in addition to the fact that the franchises swapped affiliations prior to the 2011 season. Outfielder J.B. Shuck and pitcher Sergio Perez both played for the Express in 2010, and Oklahoma City pitching coach Burt Hooton was on the Express staff in 2000 and again from 2005 through 2010. RedHawks pitcher Mark Hamburger began the season with the Express before being designated for assignment by the Rangers in late June. Furthermore, Oklahoma City outfielder Brad Snyder is the brother of Express reliever Ben Snyder.
Express games are broadcast on The Horn 104.9 FM ESPN Austin and steamed live online at www.espnaustin.com.
