Tonight's Game-- The RedHawks look for their third straight win as well as clinching a series victory when they face the Fresno Grizzlies 7:05 p.m. on $1 beer night.

Last Night-- The RedHawks turned a pitcher's duel into a blowout win over the Fresno Grizzlies in a 7-1 victory. For the first time on the homestand, the RedHawks scored before their opponent. In the bottom of the third, Jimmy Paredes hit a triple down the right field line to start the inning. Angel Sanchez brought Paredes home with a sacrifice fly and the RedHawks took a 1-0 lead. Fresno got on the board in the sixth with an RBI groundout by Xavier Nady. The RedHawks took control in the seventh, scoring six times. They started off the inning with seven straight hits, including a two-run double by Sanchez and a two-run single by Matt Downs. Brett Oberholtzer (5-5) turned in another strong performance at home, allowing one runs and five hits over five innings. Yusmeiro Petit (6-5) had been pitching just as well through six, but the big seventh did him in as he took the loss.

Tonight's Probable Pitchers-- Rudy Owens seeks his first win since joining the RedHawks...On Saturday against Sacramento, Owens had his best start since joining the team, albeit in a loss...He went seven innings for the first time since May 13 (16 starts)...Owens allowed four runs--three earned--and six hits, all for extra-bases...It was his first quality start with the RedHawks and he finished strong, retiring the final seven hitters he faced as well as 12 of the final 13...Owens joined the RedHawks in late July after coming over in a trade for Pittsburgh in exchange for Wandy Rodriguez...He has held PCL opponents to a .208 average with runners in scoring position, but he also had some trouble with home runs, giving up six in his first 22 innings...Fellow lefty Jason Stevenson will start for Fresno...Stevenson has picked up the loss in each of his last three starts, surrendering 18 runs and 26 hits over 14.1 innings...He has struggled to work deep into games, and has only gone six innings twice in 15 outings...Stevenson has done a good job limiting the opposition with runners in scoring position, holding them to a .215 average as well as a .091 mark with two outs...Stevenson began the season with Double-A Richmond, going 1-5 with a 5.91 ERA over nine starts...From 2006-2010, he did not play organized baseball and was signed by the Giants out of independent ball last season.

Twice is Nice-- The RedHawks have won consecutive games for the first time since July 25-26.

Angel in the Infield-- Angel Sanchez is hitting .447 (17-for-38) over his last 11 games. He set a season high with three RBIs last night and since the end of May he is batting .355.

Going Downs Town-- Since joining the RedHawks on August 11, Matt Downs is hitting .368 (7-for-19) with two homers and seven RBIs. He has recorded a hit and at least one RBI in five straight games.

30 Rock-- Mike Hessman connected on his 30th home run of the season Monday night. It's the third 30+ homer season in his career, and he's the first RedHawk to do so since Nelson Cruz hit 37 in 2008. His 379 career Minor League home runs are the most among active players.

In a Pinch-- After Brad Snyder's RBI single last night, RedHawks pinch hitters have batted an impressive .324 with 27 RBIs this season. Snyder is now 5-for-14 with two homers and three RBIs when coming off the bench.

Promising Pitching-- Although the pitching staff has largely struggled since the All-Star Break, it has vastly improved this homestand. Over the last six games the team ERA is 3.00 (18 ER/54 IP). The starters have turned in four quality starts and posted a combined 2.82 ERA (11 ER/35 IP) with 24 strikeouts and only seven walks.

Keeping it in the Park-- The RedHawks pitching staff has not allowed a home run in four consecutive games, marking the first time that's happened this season. The streak now spans 37 straight innings.

RISP-y Business-- The RedHawks have held their opponents to a .139 average with runners in scoring position (10-for-72) over the last six games.

Arduous August-- The RedHawks are 3-11 this month, and their .250 team average is 13th in the PCL. They are the only team among full-season Minor League affiliates to have less than four wins this month.

Tumbling From the Peak-- After a four-game sweep in Omaha on July 19 put the RedHawks at a season-best 18 games above .500 (58-40), they have gone 7-19 since. They've gone from leading the division by two games to dropping to third place and being 6.5 games back of first. They're only hitting .248 over the last 19 games (4-15).

Close Calls-- The RedHawks have played the third-most one-run games in the league (39) and now have the second-most one-run wins (22).

Against the Grizzlies-- This is the only series in 2012 between these squads...Last season they split a four-game set in Fresno, with the RedHawks scoring at least five runs each game...The Grizzlies swept the series on their last trip to Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in May, 2010...Going back to 2008, Freno has won six of the last 10 meetings in OKC...This is the final series the RedHawks play against a Pacific Conference opponent this season.
